ZEROVA Technologies, a recently established company by Phihong Technology, is set to unveil its latest product, the standalone 4-car DC charger, at the upcoming EVS36 Expo in Sacramento, California on June 11. This groundbreaking charger will also be showcased at the Power2Drive Expo in Munich, Germany on June 14.
Named the DQ480, this DC charger represents a significant advancement in charging technology. With a capacity of 480 kW, it allows for the simultaneous connection of four vehicles and offers the choice of two cooling systems, liquid or air, depending on location and specific requirements.
The DQ480 features two charging cables that can provide up to 500A of charging power using water cooling, while the other two cables utilize air cooling and offer 300A charging current. The air-cooled cables include a boost option to increase output power during peak hours.
Furthermore, the front of the charger can be customized to suit different locations, offering three screen options: a single 7-inch screen, a 7-inch screen for user interface along with a 21.5-inch screen for advertisements, or a larger 32-inch screen for comprehensive functionality.
The advantage of a fast DC charger capable of servicing four electric cars simultaneously is reduced installation costs for providers, as well as a more efficient layout of charging areas with increased parking spaces. Additionally, the incorporation of screens presents an opportunity for additional revenue through advertising.
For customers, the availability of cost-effective charging equipment like the DQ480 may accelerate the installation of more charging stations, allowing for easier access to charging infrastructure. This is an important factor in addressing range anxiety, a hurdle that hinders the wider adoption of electric vehicles. While there are cars with impressive battery capacities, such as the Zeekr 001, which can travel up to 1,000 km with its 140 kWh battery, the need for accessible charging stations remains significant, especially for those without access to private garages. The widespread availability of charging stations would make electric vehicles a more appealing and practical option for consumers.
ZEROVA Technologies aims to contribute to the development of the EV charging industry with their innovative approach. Their 4-car DC charger represents a step towards a future where electric vehicles and convenient charging solutions seamlessly integrate, enabling a more sustainable and environmentally friendly mode of transportation.
