Renault’s mobility brand, Mobilize, and French energy company NW have signed an agreement to create a joint venture focused on electric vehicle (EV) charging combined with energy storage. The partnership aims to reduce charging costs for EV users while maximizing the use of decarbonized electricity.

The joint venture will leverage the expertise of both companies: Mobilize will contribute its knowledge of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, while NW will bring its expertise in electricity storage and charging technology. Gianluca De Ficchy, CEO of Mobilize, stated, “At Mobilize, we are committed to playing a key role in the energy transition. This alliance with NW allows us to combine our expertise to offer charging and energy storage solutions that are both innovative and sustainable. Together, we aim to transform the European energy landscape and address the energy challenges of tomorrow.”

The partnership also taps into the evolving concept of Industry 4.0, which emphasizes the integration of digital technology with physical infrastructure. Jean-Christophe Kerdelhué, founder and president of NW, explained, “For NW, the concept of Industry 4.0, also known as the fourth industrial revolution, represents a new way of organizing production resources. This industry of the future enables the convergence of digital technology and digitalization with products and/or physical world infrastructures.”

NW, which is already a leader in electricity storage in France with its JBox, has been building a network of fast-charging stations under the IECharge brand since 2021. The new joint venture has the potential to create a unique and innovative offering that accelerates the adoption of electric cars and furthers the energy transition.

The partnership between Mobilize and NW is expected to contribute significantly to the development of sustainable charging infrastructure and energy solutions, supporting the shift toward a decarbonized energy future.
