The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS has been selected as the official pace car for the 67th Daytona 500, marking the first time an electric vehicle will lead “The Great American Race.” Chevrolet announced the decision ahead of the NASCAR season opener, set for February 16, 2025, at Daytona International Speedway.
With up to 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, the Blazer EV SS is Chevrolet’s most powerful SS model ever. The performance-oriented SUV, equipped with Wide Open Watts mode, can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. It will pace the Daytona 500 with its stock powertrain, featuring only a custom design and embedded strobe lights for its official role.

“This is a historic moment for Chevrolet and for NASCAR,” Chevrolet said in a statement. “We’re proud to showcase the high-performance capabilities of our all-electric Blazer EV SS on one of racing’s biggest stages.”
Chevrolet introduced the 2025 Blazer EV lineup earlier this year, offering multiple configurations, including front-wheel drive (FWD), all-wheel drive (AWD), rear-wheel drive (RWD), and the high-performance SS variant. The SS trim features a sport-tuned chassis and Brembo brakes, enhancing handling and stopping power.

The base FWD version of the Blazer EV starts at $45,995, providing an EPA-estimated range of 312 miles, while the RWD variant, starting at $56,990, offers 334 miles of range per charge. The high-performance SS model, priced at $61,995, delivers an estimated 303-mile range. All trims qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit.
In addition to the pace car debut, Chevrolet will also unveil the new Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype during the Daytona 500 weekend. The move follows Ford’s introduction of a Mustang Mach-E NASCAR prototype, signaling a growing presence of electric vehicles in motorsports.
