Zeekr has unveiled the updated Zeekr 001 shooting brake model, aiming to maintain its competitiveness in the market through upgraded specifications and reduced prices amid intense price competition.

The 2024 Zeekr 001 was launched at an event in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, where Zeekr is headquartered. The new model comes equipped with an 800 V electrical system, a key feature of premium models launched in recent months, such as the Zeekr 007.

Most electric vehicles introduced in recent years have utilized the mainstream 400 V platform. The higher voltage of the 800 V system allows for faster charging and lower energy consumption, albeit at higher component costs.

Zeekr offers four versions of the updated Zeekr 001, including two WE Editions with a starting price of RMB 269,000 ($37,370) each. The ME version starts at RMB 299,000, and the YOU version starts at RMB 329,000. These prices are lower than those of the Zeekr 001 after discounts over the past few months.

The company previously offered the Zeekr 001 in these four versions, with both WE versions starting at RMB 300,000 before discounts, and the other two starting at RMB 349,000 and RMB 386,000, respectively.

The new pricing strategy aligns the 2024 Zeekr 001’s starting price with the 2023 model’s post-promotion price, while the higher-trim variants see a reduction of RMB 20,000.

Alongside the price adjustments, Zeekr has upgraded the specifications of the Zeekr 001. The exterior design remains unchanged, but the vehicle now boasts an upgraded powertrain, with the single-motor WE variant featuring a peak motor power of 310 kW, up from 200 kW in the previous model. This enhancement enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, compared to 6.9 seconds in the old model.

The three dual-motor versions all have a combined peak power of 580 kW, with the WE version accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, and the other two versions in 3.3 seconds each.

The 2024 Zeekr 001 is equipped with a 95-kWh capacity Shenxing Battery from CATL, offering a CLTC range of 675 kilometers. The vehicle supports 5C charging, allowing it to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 11.5 minutes, adding 472 kilometers of range, according to Zeekr.

Additionally, the other three variants are powered by the 100-kWh capacity Qilin Battery, also from CATL, offering a CLTC range of 750 kilometers for the single-motor version, and 705 kilometers for the dual-motor versions. These versions have a maximum charge multiplier of 4C, taking 15 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent, Zeekr stated.

The updated Zeekr 001 comes standard with a LiDAR placed on the roof to enhance the assisted driving system, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, the preferred cockpit chip for new high-end models. Other hardware upgrades include air suspension, audio, seats, and satellite communications.

Zeekr’s smart driving team aims to expand coverage of high-level Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) functionality to more than 60 cities by the end of March and to over 90 percent of China’s cities in the second quarter, through joint R&D with Mobileye.
