Over the past few years, last-mile mobility has become a crucial part of urban living, with an increasing number of cities in Europe and Asia encouraging citizens to reduce their dependence on cars. This shift has led to a surge in popularity of lightweight electric two-wheelers such as scooters and small motorbikes.
In India, Yulu, a shared electric mobility startup, has partnered with Bajaj Auto, one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the country, to expand their operations. The collaboration has resulted in the launch of two new electric scooters – the Miracle GR and DeX GR – specifically designed for commuting and last-mile delivery in India’s harsh weather and road conditions.
Yulu’s technology powers the two-wheelers while Bajaj’s manufacturing expertise ensures their procurement. Yulu hopes to deploy 100,000 new electric scooters across major cities in India, increasing revenue ten-fold by the end of 2023. The partnership with Bajaj will significantly reduce costs as existing infrastructure will be used for manufacturing, with locally sourced parts utilized in the development of the new scooters.
The Miracle GR is a standard commuter scooter for transporting people around the city, while the DeX GR is delivery-focused, featuring a rear carrier for transporting small to medium-sized parcels. Both models are 100% made-in-India, showcasing the strength of Indian engineering and design.
