Kia has unveiled the Syros EV, a compact electric SUV developed primarily for the Indian market, and has opened pre-orders with a refundable booking amount of 25,000 rupees (approximately €227).
The automaker has not announced plans to introduce the model in other markets.
Two Battery Options
The Syros EV is based on the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Syros and retains much of the original design, with revisions including a redesigned front bumper, a smaller grille area and a charging port integrated into the front left fender.

The vehicle also features a 16-liter front storage compartment and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) outlet positioned beneath the rear seat.
Measuring 3.99 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width and 1.67 meters in height, the Syros EV shares its footprint with the gasoline-powered model while sitting 10 millimeters lower. The wheelbase remains 2.55 meters.
Kia offers two battery configurations for the model.
The standard-range version combines a 99-kW front-mounted electric motor producing 255 Nm of torque with a 42-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack, delivering a claimed driving range of 443 kilometers.

The extended-range model features a 126-kW motor paired with a 51.4-kWh NMC battery, providing a claimed range of up to 526 kilometers and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
Both battery packs support DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 39 minutes using a 100-kW charger.
Battery Warranty and Market Position
Kia said the Syros EV will be offered with a lifetime battery warranty, which the company describes as a first for vehicles equipped with 42-kWh and 51.4-kWh NMC battery packs in India.
The company also plans to introduce a guaranteed buyback program and a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option aimed at reducing ownership costs and increasing customer confidence.
The Syros EV shares its electric powertrain with the Kia Carens Clavis EV and Hyundai Creta Electric.

In India’s growing electric vehicle market, the new model is expected to compete with the Tata Nexon.ev and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
Kia has not yet announced pricing, which is expected to play a key role in determining the vehicle’s competitiveness in the segment.
