Xpeng expects to achieve a single profitable quarter for the first time in 2025, as the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker maintains strong delivery momentum, Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said in an interview with LatePost.

“We expect to be able to break even for a single quarter sometime in 2025,” He said, marking the first time Xpeng has provided a timeline for reaching profitability.

His remarks come as Xpeng reported steady sales growth, delivering 30,350 vehicles in January—its third consecutive month exceeding 30,000 units. While this figure represents a 267.88% increase from a year earlier, it is down 17.29% from December’s 36,695 deliveries.

In the interview, He dismissed concerns over low profit margins, stating, “Low gross margin is just a process, [we] must not be low gross margin in the future.” He also emphasized financial discipline, saying companies should prioritize making money before spending, rather than relying on external financing.

He further highlighted the importance of supply chain oversight, claiming that some employees in Xpeng’s procurement team had misled him. “I also said to Li Bin that you have to personally manage the supply chain and you have to understand it. It doesn’t work if you don’t personally manage it or if you don’t understand it,” he said, referring to Nio CEO William Li.

Meanwhile, Xpeng plans to launch the Max variant of its Mona M03 sedan in the second quarter. The company introduced the Mona M03 on August 27, 2024, with three variants—515, 620, and 580 Max—priced from RMB 119,800 ($16,440) to RMB 155,800.
