Xpeng is targeting a significant increase in vehicle deliveries in 2025, aiming to double its output from the 190,068 units delivered in 2024. CEO He Xiaopeng revealed this ambitious goal in a speech at a Guangdong provincial government conference, marking the first time the company has officially set a delivery target for 2025. The new target places Xpeng on track for about 380,000 deliveries in 2025.
The announcement comes as local competitors, such as Nio, have also set similar delivery expectations. Nio, which delivered 221,970 vehicles in 2024, is aiming for a target of approximately 440,000 deliveries in 2025. However, Xpeng’s management has not disclosed further details on how they plan to achieve this growth.

Xpeng has made a strong start to 2025, despite a traditionally slow beginning to the year for the Chinese automotive market. The company delivered 30,350 vehicles in January, a 267.88 percent increase from the 8,250 units in the same month last year, though it represented a slight dip of 17.29 percent from December’s record deliveries of 36,695 vehicles.
The company is also focused on shaping the future of mobility, with ambitions to develop self-driving cars for urban travel, flying cars for longer-distance trips, and humanoid robots for last-mile transportation. Xpeng has heavily invested in research and development (R&D), with a cumulative investment of over RMB 50 billion ($6.9 billion) over the past decade. For 2025, the company plans to invest approximately RMB 9.5 billion in R&D, with a significant portion dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI).

Xpeng’s subsidiary, Xpeng Aeroht, has become Asia’s largest flying car company, employing a team of over 1,300 people, 85 percent of whom are involved in R&D. Xpeng Aeroht plans to launch its modular flying car, the “Land Carrier,” within this year, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026. The factory for this flying car unit, which broke ground in Guangzhou in October 2024, will have an annual capacity of 10,000 units, significantly outpacing the production capabilities of current small aircraft manufacturers.
Looking ahead, Xpeng is aggressively pursuing global expansion. The company entered 30 countries and regions in 2024 and plans to extend its reach to over 60 markets by the end of 2025.
