Xpeng has launched the Mona L05, a five-seat mid-size SUV in China, with limited-time prices starting at 139,800 yuan (approximately $20,820). The new model is available in six variants, covering battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrains.
The launch took place on Thursday, with official guide prices ranging from 144,800 yuan to 176,800 yuan. Customers who pay a 5,000-yuan deposit by 15 December qualify for a 5,000-yuan cash discount, reducing the prices to between 139,800 yuan and 171,800 yuan.
The four BEV variants cover the full price range, while the two EREV versions are priced at 149,800 yuan and 161,800 yuan.
Launch Prices Lower Than Pre-Sale Levels
The retail launch adds a new entry-level 560 Plus BEV variant that was not included in the pre-sale lineup announced on 15 October. Prices for the five previously announced versions are each 15,000 yuan below their respective pre-sale prices.
The lower starting price expands the model’s position in Xpeng’s domestic lineup as the company seeks to increase deliveries in the fourth quarter. Its year-to-date vehicle deliveries remain below the corresponding period of the previous year.
The Mona L05 is the third model in the Mona range, positioned above the Mona L03 compact SUV introduced in July. The lineup is part of Xpeng’s efforts to reach younger customers in China’s electric vehicle market.
BEV and EREV Powertrain Options
The Mona L05 measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,636 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm. Exterior features include a sloping roofline and frameless doors.
The battery-electric versions offer a maximum CLTC driving range of 635 kilometres. The extended-range variants provide an electric-only CLTC range of 310 kilometres and a combined range of up to 1,310 kilometres with a fully charged battery and a full fuel tank.
Driver-Assistance Systems Differ by Variant
Driver-assistance hardware and computing capacity vary across the model range.
The Max variants are equipped with one of Xpeng’s in-house Turing AI chips, providing 750 TOPS of effective computing power. These versions support the second-generation VLA Lite driver-assistance model.
The Ultra SE variants use two Turing AI chips, increasing effective computing power to 1,500 TOPS. They support the full version of Xpeng’s second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model.
Interior equipment includes a 17.3-inch central touchscreen and a 26.8-inch W-HUD head-up display. Available features include a rear entertainment screen, a zero-gravity front passenger seat and a 20-speaker audio system.
Xpeng Targets 65 International Markets
The Mona L05 is also part of Xpeng’s international expansion plans. On 26 October, the company announced that global shipments of the SUV had begun, with the model scheduled for introduction in 65 countries and regions.
Xpeng said left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive versions were developed simultaneously to support sales in markets with different vehicle configurations.
The company previously reported deploying 660 vehicles for testing under extreme conditions across 25 countries and regions. However, it has not announced specific delivery schedules for individual overseas markets.
