Xpeng has entered the Indonesian market and plans to establish local production by the second half of 2025, marking its first overseas factory as the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker accelerates its global expansion.
The company has begun pre-sales for the G6 SUV and X9 MPV in Indonesia, though pricing details were not disclosed. It has partnered with local dealer Eral (Erajaya Active Lifestyle) and will introduce right-hand drive versions of both models later this year, Xpeng said in a statement.

“As the most populous country in Southeast Asia and the region’s largest automotive market, Indonesia presents significant potential for EV growth,” the company said, citing a 150% year-on-year increase in new energy vehicle (NEV) sales to over 43,000 units in 2024.
Indonesia aims to produce 400,000 EVs in 2025, rising to 1 million by 2035, according to government targets. Xpeng stated that the country’s policy support for the NEV industry has created vast opportunities for Chinese automakers.
Xpeng, which currently operates in more than 30 international markets, plans to expand to over 60 countries and regions this year. The company aims for overseas sales to account for 50% of its total volume within the next decade.
