Xpeng Aeroht, the flying car subsidiary of Xpeng, announced that it has garnered nearly RMB 300 million ($42.8 million) in pre-orders for its innovative modular flying car.
This significant milestone comes as the eVTOL (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) manufacturer entered strategic partnerships with two Hangzhou-based firms, Gaozhi Aviation and Aocheng Aviation, culminating in contracts for 150 modular flying cars.
The pre-orders were formalized during the third Global Digital Trade Expo, which took place from September 25-29 in Hangzhou. At the event, Xpeng Aeroht showcased flight demonstrations of its Voyager X2 flying car, emphasizing the company’s commitment to advancing air travel technology.
Gaozhi Aviation and Aocheng Aviation are set to enhance Xpeng Aeroht’s operational capabilities by providing essential support, including airspace approvals, flight license training, and organizing user events within Zhejiang province, where they have established a strong clientele in the affluent Yangtze River Delta region.
Founded in 2013 and majority-owned by Guangzhou-based Xpeng, Xpeng Aeroht’s development roadmap includes both eVTOL flying cars and modular flying vehicles. The latter consists of a flying car paired with a parent vehicle designed for recharging. The company plans to initiate pre-sales of the modular flying car by the end of 2024, aiming for mass production and deliveries by 2026, with a target price of no more than RMB 2 million.
Previously, during a closed-door meeting with key partners, Xpeng Aeroht revealed that it had already received over 1,000 pre-orders for its modular flying car as of September 4, demonstrating strong interest in this innovative transport solution.
