Xiaomi’s SU7 electric sedan has seen a sharp reduction in delivery wait times, a shift that analysts at Goldman Sachs attribute to improved manufacturing output at the company’s EV facility.

“We believe the shortened waiting time for SU7 Pro/Max demonstrates Xiaomi’s consistent execution in ramping up manufacturing capabilities, and echoes our earlier view that the tax subsidies announced on Oct. 24 reflect Xiaomi’s confidence in manufacturing capacity ramp-up,” Goldman Sachs analyst Timothy Zhao’s team wrote in a research note on Tuesday.

The analysts noted that while new SU7 orders have softened recently, helping to clear the existing backlog, Xiaomi’s ongoing capacity expansion is expected to achieve further progress in the coming months. Goldman Sachs added that a potential facelift version could arrive in the next few months, setting up a stronger product cycle for the SU7 line in 2026.

According to Xiaomi EV’s mobile app on November 11, Chinese customers ordering the SU7 Pro and SU7 Max now face delivery times of six to nine weeks — down sharply from the previous 30-week wait. The entry-level SU7 Standard edition remains subject to a wait of 29 to 32 weeks.

The shorter timeline means new buyers of the Pro and Max variants are likely to receive their vehicles before year-end, qualifying for higher purchase tax incentives available in 2024. Under China’s policy, new energy vehicles (NEVs) are exempt from purchase tax through 2025, with a maximum reduction of RMB 30,000 ($4,220) per vehicle. From 2026 to 2027, the exemption will be halved to a 5 percent tax rate, capped at RMB 15,000.

To further reassure buyers, Xiaomi EV announced that customers who finalize orders by November 30 will receive a cash rebate of up to RMB 15,000 if delays caused by the company push delivery into 2026, offsetting any loss in tax benefits.
