BYD’s premium vehicle brand Denza has opened pre-sales for the all-electric Z9S sedan in China, introducing a new flagship model that offers up to 1,100 kilometres of driving range under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).
The Z9S enters the premium electric sedan segment with a starting pre-sales price of 319,800 yuan (approximately $47,100).
Three Variants Offered
The Denza Z9S is available in three variants.
The Flash Charging Premium version is priced at 319,800 yuan, the Flash Charging Flagship at 349,800 yuan, and the Flash Charging Performance version featuring BYD’s e3 technology at 389,800 yuan.
All three models are equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, a 102.3kWh battery pack and the company’s God’s Eye 5.0 advanced driver assistance system as standard.
According to Denza, the three variants deliver CLTC driving ranges of 780 kilometres, 920 kilometres and 1,100 kilometres respectively.
Performance and Charging
The Z9S is available with either a rear-wheel-drive single-motor powertrain or a tri-motor all-wheel-drive configuration.
The single-motor version produces 370kW, while the tri-motor Performance model delivers a combined output of 890kW (1,194hp), enabling acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 2.68 seconds.
Like several recent BYD models, the Z9S supports ultra-fast charging technology.
The company said the battery can be charged from 10% to 70% in approximately five minutes and from 10% to 97% in around nine minutes under compatible charging conditions.
Premium Features
The Z9S measures 5,090mm in length with a 3,025mm wheelbase, positioning it in the premium electric sedan segment alongside competitors including the Xiaomi SU7 and Xpeng P7.
Standard equipment includes rear-wheel steering, the DiSus-A intelligent air suspension system, a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, a retractable rear spoiler, a 120-litre front storage compartment and a 470-litre rear luggage compartment.
Inside the cabin, Denza said the Z9S is the first production vehicle to support Apple CarPlay’s small-window mode. The infotainment system also supports smartphone connectivity with devices from Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Honor and Samsung.
The Z9S becomes the third model in the Denza Z9 family, joining the previously launched Z9 and Z9GT.
