Xiaomi is set to meet its annual delivery goal for its SU7 electric vehicle (EV), bolstered by recent expansions at its new Beijing factory.
The company’s first foray into the automotive industry with the SU7 has seen strong demand since its launch earlier this year. In response to a surge in interest, Xiaomi raised its delivery target by 20% in May. According to CNEVPost, Xiaomi’s SU7 delivery schedule is now two months ahead of plan. With its newly completed highly automated plant in Beijing ramping up production, Xiaomi anticipates delivering 100,000 SU7 units by early November.
Xiaomi’s founder and CEO, Lei Jun, reported that over 30,000 SU7 units were delivered in the first three months of launch. He further projected that deliveries would exceed 10,000 units in July.
The SU7 was recently showcased in Paris as part of Xiaomi’s exhibition, “People, Cars, and Homes Full of Ecology.” While Xiaomi has no immediate plans to export the SU7, Lei Jun has indicated an ambition to enter the European market before 2030, aiming to position the company among the top five global automakers.
“We’re aiming for the top five in the world, so we’re going global when the time is right,” Lei stated.
