Xiaomi’s electric vehicle (EV) division delivered more than 25,000 vehicles in June, the company said in an update posted to Weibo on Sunday. While the firm did not disclose a precise figure, the June result appears slightly below May’s reported volume of over 28,000 units. It marks the ninth straight month of deliveries exceeding 20,000 units.
“We are working around the clock to ramp up production and aim to deliver vehicles to you as soon as possible,” Xiaomi EV stated on Weibo, without providing detailed figures or breakdowns by model.
Xiaomi officially entered the EV market with the launch of the SU7 electric sedan on March 28, 2024, positioning the model as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3. This was followed by the February debut of the high-performance SU7 Ultra, featuring up to 1,548 horsepower.
Most recently, Xiaomi launched the YU7, its first electric SUV, on June 26. Marketed as a rival to the Tesla Model Y, the YU7 garnered a strong response, amassing 200,000 confirmed orders within three minutes and over 240,000 locked-in orders within 18 hours.
While Xiaomi has begun limited production of the YU7, the surge in demand has led to lengthy delivery lead times. According to local monitoring, estimated delivery waits currently range from 57 to 60 weeks for the entry-level YU7 Standard, 50 to 53 weeks for the YU7 Pro, and 37 to 40 weeks for the YU7 Max.
Xiaomi is preparing to expand production capacity with its EV plant’s phase 2 development, which is expected to begin operations between July and August, according to prior local media reports. Deliveries of customized YU7 models are expected to start in August.
