Deliveries from Xiaomi’s electric vehicle unit are expected to accelerate as factory output expands, with the company preparing to shorten waiting times for its models by several weeks.
Cailian reported that Xiaomi EV plans to optimize delivery cycles through an upgraded version of its vehicle ordering app. Updated timelines for some models could advance by up to six weeks and in some cases as much as two months, compared with earlier schedules.
Xiaomi EV delivered 36,500 vehicles in August, its second consecutive month above 30,000 units, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association. The SU7 sedan accounted for 19,848 units, while the newly launched YU7 SUV contributed 16,548 units. Both models compete directly with Tesla, with the SU7 positioned against the Model 3 and the YU7 targeting the Model Y.
Strong demand has left customers facing extended delivery wait times, with the SU7 requiring up to 38 weeks and the YU7 as long as 54 weeks, industry data showed. Deutsche Bank projected September deliveries would reach a record 42,000 units, supported by a 22 percent month-on-month production increase in August to 37,380 units. The bank expects Xiaomi EV’s monthly output to exceed 50,000 units by the fourth quarter of 2025.
