Volt, the electric vehicle charging business of Keppel’s Infrastructure Division, has opened Singapore’s largest public electric bus charging hub in partnership with testing, inspection and certification company Setsco.
The new facility, located at 2E Jalan Papan in Jurong, provides an installed charging capacity of 2.76 megawatts and can charge up to 46 electric vehicles simultaneously.
Charging hub supports electric bus fleets
The charging hub features a combination of 120kW fast chargers and 360kW ultra-fast chargers, although Volt has not disclosed the number of each charger type currently installed.
The site will serve as a primary fast-charging base for ComfortDelGro Bus’s electric bus fleet operating across western Singapore while remaining open to private electric cars as well as light- and heavy-duty electric commercial vehicles.
Vehicles capable of accepting ultra-fast charging can replenish their batteries in as little as 10 minutes using the 360kW chargers.
The high-power charging infrastructure is compatible with several next-generation electric vehicles, including the Lotus Emeya and Eletre, Porsche Taycan and Cayenne Electric, Xpeng G6 and X9, and Zeekr 7X.
Expansion planned
Volt said the Jalan Papan facility is being developed in phases and will eventually support up to 70 electric vehicles charging simultaneously, although a completion timeline has not been announced.
When the project was first unveiled in July 2024, the company indicated the site would ultimately be capable of supporting up to 80 electric buses at once, with the first phase including five 360kW ultra-fast chargers.
“The opening of Singapore’s largest public electric bus charging hub at Jalan Papan is a significant milestone in Volt’s efforts to scale up EV infrastructure, enabling the adoption of cleaner transport options while strengthening our position as a leading owner and operator of sustainable infrastructure,” said Volt Executive Director Lim Yong Wei.
“By working closely with our partners such as CDGB and SETSCO, we look forward to delivering reliable, high-performance charging solutions to meet the needs of fleet operators.”
ComfortDelGro Bus, Singapore’s largest private operator of electric buses, has appointed Volt as its charging partner.
Volt currently operates nearly 500 EV chargers across more than 150 locations in Singapore, with more than half of its network consisting of DC fast chargers.
