Vietnamese automaker VinFast showcased its first electric bus models for international markets, the EB 8 and EB 12, at Busworld Brussels. The company said both models meet European standards, with the 12-meter EB 12 city bus now available for order as VinFast seeks to expand its presence in Europe beyond passenger cars.

The EB 12 is a 12.11-meter low-floor electric bus capable of carrying up to 90 passengers, powered by two 125 kW wheel hub motors for a total output of 250 kW. It features a 422 kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL and Gotion, offering a range of over 400 km (SORT 2) and 140 kW DC fast charging capability. The interior includes dual-zone climate control with a heat pump, air suspension, 26 USB ports, and LED lighting.

The smaller EB 8, measuring 8.6 meters, uses a 200 kW central motor and a 359 kWh battery for around 290 km (SORT 1) of range. It supports 120 kW fast charging and accommodates up to 60 passengers. VinFast said the EB 8 will follow the EB 12’s European launch at a later stage. Both models come with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, while the battery and corrosion protection are covered for eight years.

“VinFast was founded with the aspiration of democratizing electric mobility,” said Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup and Chairwoman of VinFast. “We are confident that VinFast’s modern, high-performance, and amenity-rich electric buses will be the ideal choice for both operators and passengers.”
