Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has unveiled its latest zero-emission commercial vehicle, the EB 6 electric minibus, targeting both urban and interstate transit markets in its domestic market.
The EB 6 is powered by a 179.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a range of over 250 km on a full charge and a top speed of 90 kph. With peak DC fast charging at 120 kW, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in around 70 minutes. A single rear-mounted electric motor delivers 140 kW of power and 420 Nm of torque.
Measuring 6.2 meters in length, 2.2 meters in width, and 2.9 meters in height, the EB 6 offers 180 mm of ground clearance. VinFast will offer the minibus in two variants: a city bus and a school bus. Both share the same exterior design but differ in seating configurations and equipment.
The city bus version accommodates up to 30 people, including 11 seated passengers, 17 standing passengers, a driver, and a designated wheelchair space. It includes features such as handrails and stop-request buttons.
The 20-seater school bus variant includes seatbelts on all 19 passenger seats, and comes equipped with additional amenities including a 21-inch LED display, surveillance cameras, an air purifier, an attendance system, a missing-person alert, and several connected applications.
VinFast has also outfitted the EB 6 with a suite of safety technologies, including disc brakes on all wheels, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA).
Deliveries of the city bus version are scheduled to begin in September, with the school bus model to follow in October.
