Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast announced that it has started deliveries of 100 VF 8 electric SUVs to their customers in Vietnam. Customers outside Vietnam are scheduled to receive the VF 8 electric SUV in December 2022.
Dimensionally, the VF 8 electric SUV comes with a length of 4.75 meters. The VF 8 has an 82 kWh battery and delivers a range of between 400 and 420 km.
The battery of the VF 8 electric SUV is rented out for 120 euros per month. However, since September 1, VinFast is also offering the option of purchasing a battery, although it doesn’t mention the purchase price of the battery in its current announcement.
“Today’s event marks a turning point for Vietnam’s auto industry,” said Le Thi Thu Thuy, vice-chairman of Vingroup and CEO of VinFas, at the event to mark the delivery of the first vehicles. “In this historic moment, we are extremely happy to deliver the first batch of VF 8 all-electric vehicles to our pioneering customers in Vietnam. And very soon, the enthusiasm will be realized by more than 65,000 pioneering customers world wide.”
In July, VinFast opened a showroom in the US as part of preparations for their global launch of electric vehicles.
VinFast also announced store openings in Germany, France and the Netherlands in June. VinFast wrote that “after this initial shipment in Vietnam, VinFast plans to export the next batch of approximately 5,000 VF 8s to the US, Canada and Europe from November. The first international customers are expected to receive their vehicles in early December 2022.”
