Go Fast Campers has unveiled a new rooftop tent system designed specifically for the Rivian R1T electric pickup truck, catering to adventurous drivers seeking off-the-grid experiences. The new system consists of two components: a platform topper and a platform camper, providing ample storage and sleeping space while enhancing the R1T’s rugged capabilities.
The platform topper, which sits atop the truck’s bed, offers a spacious storage area shielded from the elements. With all three sides of the topper capable of being opened, accessing gear is convenient and easy. While Go Fast Campers has not disclosed the exact materials used, the topper appears robust and durable, promising to withstand demanding adventures.
The camper, the second component of the system, attaches to the topper using four tie-down brackets and extends over the rear half of the R1T’s roof. Constructed with a white honeycomb composite, the camper reflects solar radiation and provides insulation.
It is designed to support significant weight, doubling as a roof rack when not in use. Special attention has been given to ensure the camper does not obstruct the shark fin antenna, allowing the R1T to receive over-the-air software updates. Additionally, efforts are being made to ensure the compatibility of the camper with the R1T’s OEM tonneau cover, tailgate, and gear tunnel features.
Go Fast Campers has priced the camper at $9,450, with the topper costing an additional $4,999 and a $300 installation fee. While this represents a significant investment, the added versatility and functionality make the system ideal for off-road adventures and camping trips.
Interested buyers can place a $100 refundable deposit, with production expected to begin in August. Customers will also have the option to customize certain elements, such as the colors of the panels used.
