Rivian has introduced a special trade-in discount in celebration of Earth Day, offering $5,000 off for customers who trade select gas vehicles for a new R1T or R1S.
In an email sent to prospective customers on Monday, Rivian announced the “Electric Upgrade” offer, which not only provides a $5,000 discount but also includes one year of free charging on the Rivian Adventure Network (RAN).
“Today is Earth Day—a time to celebrate the planet we call home and think about ways to preserve it for generations to come,” Rivian wrote in the email. “We want to help you get into a more environmentally friendly, zero-emissions Rivian vehicle.”
The offer is available to residents of the U.S. or Canada who purchase or lease a new Rivian R1 between April 22 and June 30. The discount is applicable to specific R1 configurations, with varying amounts based on the model:
- R1T Standard, Standard+ Pack – $3,000 / $4,500 CAD
- R1T Large Pack – $4,000 / $6,000 CAD
- R1T Max Pack – $5,000 / $7,500 CAD
- R1S Large Pack – $1,000 / $1,500 CAD
Rivian’s trade-in deal applies to a range of gas vehicles, including models from Ford, Toyota, Jeep, Audi, and BMW, among others. The offer aims to encourage the transition to electric vehicles by providing an incentive for owners of gas-powered cars to make the switch.
Earlier this month, Rivian celebrated a milestone of producing 100,000 vehicles at its factory in Normal, Illinois. The company also unveiled its upcoming R2 and R3 vehicles, showcasing its commitment to expanding its EV lineup and advancing sustainable transportation.
