Trek Unveils New FX+ 2 E-Bike to Expand Its Electric Lineup

Trek, a renowned name in the cycling industry, has long been synonymous with innovation. As the global interest in cycling continues to soar, Trek, among other leading bike brands, has wholeheartedly embraced the e-bike trend. Currently boasting a staggering 91 models on its site, Trek is set to introduce its newest addition, the FX+ 2, bringing the total to an impressive 92 models.

The Trek FX+ 2 is designed as a lightweight, no-frills urban e-bike, catering to the entry-level market and appealing to commuters and those intrigued by e-bikes but cautious about the investment. Despite its affordability, the FX+ 2 doesn’t compromise on quality, boasting versatility, ease of use, and a host of proven technologies.

One standout feature of the FX+ 2 is its adaptability, offering multiple frame sizes to accommodate riders of various heights. Weighing in at just 17 kilograms (37 pounds), the FX+ 2 is designed to be agile and user-friendly.

Powering the FX+ 2 is a rear hub-mounted motor from Taiwanese e-bike powertrain specialist Hyena, delivering a respectable 40 Nm (29.5 pound-feet) of torque—sufficient for conquering moderately steep inclines. The motor is fueled by a 250-watt-hour battery pack integrated into the downtube, offering a claimed range of 56 kilometers (35 miles) on a single charge, with actual range varying based on terrain and rider habits.

Tech-savvy riders will appreciate the FX+ 2’s Bluetooth smartphone pairing, enabling access to the Trek Central mobile app for monitoring ride stats and motor adjustments. The Hyena LED multi-control unit allows riders to toggle assist settings on the fly.

On the component front, the FX+ 2 features a Shimano Altus nine-speed drivetrain and Promax F1 DSK-927 hydraulic disc brakes with 160-millimeter rotors, ensuring reliable performance. Additionally, the bike comes equipped with a rear luggage rack compatible with the MIK luggage system for convenient accessory attachment.
