Toyota Motor has introduced the Urban Cruiser, a new battery electric sport utility vehicle positioned in the B-segment, as part of its ongoing expansion of electric vehicle offerings in Europe.
The Urban Cruiser becomes the latest addition to Toyota’s battery electric SUV range, joining the revised bZ4X and preceding the planned launch of the all-new Toyota C-HR+, bZ4X Touring and a battery electric Hilux from 2026. Toyota said the strategy is intended to give the brand a presence across the main electric SUV segments in the region.

Built on a dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform, the Urban Cruiser will be offered with two battery options. A 49 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery is available on the front-wheel-drive version, while a 61 kWh battery is offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
According to Toyota, the front-wheel-drive model with the smaller battery offers a WLTP combined driving range of up to 344 kilometres. The 61 kWh front-wheel-drive version extends the range to up to 426 kilometres, while the all-wheel-drive variant offers a range of up to 395 kilometres, using an additional electric motor on the rear axle.

The batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and are supported by a thermal management system designed to stabilise performance across a range of operating conditions. Toyota said the Battery Care Programme covers battery performance for up to 10 years or one million kilometres, subject to annual health checks.
Toyota said the Urban Cruiser’s BEV platform integrates the battery beneath the floor to support a low centre of gravity and improve body rigidity. The company added that aerodynamic and noise-reduction measures were incorporated to improve efficiency and cabin comfort.

Inside, the vehicle features a long wheelbase for its class and a sliding, split-folding rear seat system designed to provide flexibility between passenger space and luggage capacity. Maximum cargo volume reaches 566 litres with the rear seats folded, according to Toyota.
The Urban Cruiser is equipped with a digital instrument cluster and central multimedia display housed in a single unit, along with wireless smartphone integration and remote vehicle functions accessed through the MyToyota app. The model supports DC fast charging, with a 10% to 80% charge taking around 45 minutes under suitable conditions.
