Tesla has launched the updated Model Y, codenamed Juniper, in Europe just two weeks after its debut in Asia. Building on its status as the world’s best-selling car in 2023 across all drive types, the revamped Model Y introduces design and technology upgrades aimed at improving comfort, quality, and efficiency – albeit at a higher price.
The revised Model Y features a redesigned front end with a continuous light strip inspired by the Cybertruck, improved aerodynamics, and new 19-inch rims that Tesla calls “one of the most efficient wheels” it has ever developed.

Inside, passengers will find upgrades including a new steering wheel, an eight-inch rear display, and improved insulation materials that reduce cabin noise by up to 22%. Enhancements to the sun-reflective glass and air conditioning system promise greater energy efficiency, while a chassis upgrade borrowed from the Model 3 Highland ensures a smoother ride.
Performance-wise, Tesla claims the Model Y Long Range with all-wheel drive can achieve a WLTP range of 568 kilometers with 20-inch wheels – a 35-kilometer improvement over the previous model.

Acceleration to 100 kph now takes just 4.3 seconds, 0.7 seconds faster than before, though the top speed is reduced from 217 kph to 201 kph. The updated model also boasts a peak charging capacity of 250 kW, but Tesla has not yet disclosed charging curve details or charging times from 10% to 80%.
The Juniper update comes with a significant price increase. The “Launch Series” with a large battery and all-wheel drive is priced at €60,990 in Germany, €6,000 more than the pre-facelift version. Similar price hikes apply in the UK, where the launch edition costs £60,990. Deliveries are expected to begin in March for Germany and May for the UK.

Tesla has not yet provided pricing or range details for the base Model Y with an LFP battery and rear-wheel drive, and this variant is currently unavailable for order.
The company has also refrained from commenting on whether a launch edition of the base model will follow in Europe. Despite the higher costs, Tesla is betting on the Model Y Juniper’s upgrades to maintain its global dominance in the electric vehicle market.
