Tesla appears to be advancing its update plans for the Model S, with an uncovered prototype of the 2026 version recently spotted without camouflage, offering a first look at the anticipated refresh of the company’s flagship electric sedan.
Following redesigns of the more mainstream Model 3 and Model Y, Tesla is turning its attention to the more niche Model S and Model X. While the refreshed Model X was seen earlier in camouflaged form, the new Model S has now been captured on the road in what seems to be near-final exterior form.
Changes to the design are modest. The Tesla badge at the front has been painted to match the body color, while the front slit has a sharper cut. At the rear, a revised bumper and subtle alterations to the spoiler are evident, though some observers have noted that the overall look may not be significantly more modern than the current model.
The vehicle’s blue paint finish is reportedly new to the Model S, aligning with updates made to other Tesla vehicles like the Cybertruck and Model Y refresh. One notable addition is a front bumper camera, consistent with hardware appearing in Tesla’s latest production models.
While exterior changes are visible, details on potential powertrain or battery upgrades remain undisclosed. The Model S continues to be Tesla’s longest-range and quickest-accelerating vehicle, capable of traveling over 400 miles on a single charge and reaching 0–60 mph in under two seconds.
The sighting of the Model S without camouflage suggests development may be in its final stages, though it is unclear whether the design seen is final or a prototype shell being used for ongoing hardware testing.
