Tesla plans to step up production at its German factory for the rest of 2025 after seeing stronger-than-expected demand, the plant’s head told Germany’s DPA news agency on Sunday.
“We currently have very good sales figures and have therefore revised our production plans for the third and fourth quarters upwards,” said André Thierig, manager of the Gruenheide facility near Berlin. He added the company was registering improvements outside its home market. “We supply well over 30 markets and definitely see a positive trend there,” he said.

Tesla faces headwinds in Germany, where competition from Chinese rivals has intensified and analysts suggest Chief Executive Elon Musk’s political activity may have weighed on local demand. According to the KBA road transport agency, Tesla registrations in Germany fell 57.8% between January and July, with July deliveries down more than half to 1,110 vehicles.
In early September, Tesla began producing the Model Y Performance variant at its Berlin-Brandenburg plant, limiting availability to Europe. The Performance model features revised aerodynamics, sport-tuned handling, and upgraded acceleration.

The factory also gained recognition this month for its environmental standards. Tesla said its German site was awarded the European Ecolabel (EMAS) certification, which acknowledges regulatory compliance and long-term improvements in environmental performance.
