Tesla is offering steep discounts on its existing Model Y inventory in the U.S., with some demo vehicles seeing price cuts exceeding $9,000.
The move suggests the company is preparing to launch the non-Launch Series versions of the Model Y Juniper refresh, following a similar rollout strategy used in China and Europe.

Currently, the 2026 Model Y Juniper is only available as a $60,000 Launch Series AWD trim, featuring Full Self-Driving (FSD), exclusive badging, and accessories. However, Tesla has already discontinued the Launch Series edition in overseas markets, replacing it with cheaper RWD and AWD trims. In China, for instance, the base RWD Model Y Juniper starts at approximately $36,350, with 0% APR financing incentives.
With the expectation of new orders, Tesla has increased Model Y discounts, bringing some inventory demo units down by $9,200. A 2024 Model Y Performance, for example, is now listed at $36,270 before referral credits. Previously, similar discounts were about $1,000 lower, indicating Teslaās urgency to clear out remaining inventory.

The strategy appears effective, as inventory levels have dropped sharply. Some regions, like Washington, D.C., are nearly sold out, while Texas still has several discounted units, including Performance trimsāa variant that may not be available in the Juniper refresh lineup until later this year.
