US electric vehicle maker Tesla reported first-quarter production of 408,386 vehicles and deliveries of 358,023 units, indicating a moderate start to 2026 as the company continues to stabilise following a weaker performance last year.
The figures represent an improvement compared with the first quarter of 2025, when Tesla produced around 362,600 vehicles and delivered approximately 336,700 units. The latest results correspond to a 12.6% increase in production and a 6.3% rise in deliveries year-on-year.
Despite the gains, Tesla has not fully rebounded from its broader slowdown. The company’s total vehicle sales in 2025 declined by 9.1% compared with 2024, and the current quarterly figures suggest stabilisation rather than a full recovery.
On a sequential basis, Tesla’s performance declined compared with the fourth quarter of 2025, which is typically its strongest period. Production fell from 434,358 units in Q4 to 408,386 units, while deliveries dropped from 418,227 to 358,023 vehicles.
The bulk of Tesla’s output continues to come from its mass-market models. The Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y accounted for 394,611 units produced and 341,893 delivered during the quarter. In contrast, the company’s higher-end and niche models—including the Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X and Tesla Cybertruck—made up a smaller share, with 13,775 units produced and 16,130 delivered.
Tesla also reported energy storage deployments of 8.8 GWh for the quarter, covering both residential and utility-scale battery systems. This compares with 12.5 GWh delivered in the third quarter of 2025.
The company is expected to provide further details on revenue and profitability when it releases its full first-quarter financial results on April 22.
