Tesla has officially rolled out its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software in Mexico, marking the first expansion of its advanced driver-assistance technology outside of the United States and Canada.
The launch, which was a surprise to many, was not initially announced by Tesla but was instead revealed by Tesla owners in Mexico who reported receiving the update on social media.

The FSD software version 13.2.6 has been deployed to AI4 vehicles in Mexico, as confirmed by reports from various sources, including the Tesla Owners Mexico account on X, which prompted a response from Tesla AI with “¡Hola México!” affirming the software’s availability. This unexpected move comes ahead of anticipated FSD launches in China and Europe, regions Tesla had previously identified as key targets for 2025.

Tesla’s decision to roll out FSD in Mexico before China or Europe could be attributed to the fewer regulatory challenges in the country.

While Europe’s regulatory framework is complex, with strict safety and compliance standards, and China has its own set of data security laws affecting the deployment of autonomous technology, Mexico appears to have fewer regulatory hurdles. This flexibility may have allowed Tesla to expedite the launch of FSD in Mexico.
The official FSD launch in Mexico provides Tesla an opportunity to monitor the software’s performance in a new market and collect user feedback, which could help inform its expansion plans for other regions, including China and Europe.
