Tesla’s new Model Y L, an extended-wheelbase six-seat variant, has sold out its October allocations in China, with new orders showing estimated delivery dates of November 2025 at the earliest.
Launched in August and first delivered this month, the Model Y L has quickly become one of Tesla’s top-selling vehicles in its key overseas market.

Tesla initially positioned the vehicle for September deliveries, with Vice President Grace Tao confirming on Weibo that handovers would begin in the same month. True to schedule, the first deliveries started last week, and both September and October allocations are now fully booked.
Industry estimates suggest that Tesla received more than 35,000 orders for the Model Y L on launch day. Analysts note that while some orders may overlap with the standard Model Y, the extended-wheelbase variant expands Tesla’s addressable market by appealing to buyers seeking additional seating and interior space.

The Model Y L’s early momentum comes as Tesla faces growing competition in the Chinese EV market from fast-moving domestic brands. The new variant could bolster the company’s quarterly sales performance and may serve as a strategic export product in markets demanding larger family vehicles. With a starting price of RMB 339,000 ($47,180), the Model Y L appears to have captured strong consumer interest.
