Tesla Model 3 has been selected as Police patrol vehicles in Dallas County

Dallas County purchased three Tesla Model 3s for local police to use as patrol cars. This is the latest example of the use of electric vehicles in law enforcement.

Several police departments around the world are starting to use electric vehicles such as the Tesla Model 3 and Mustang Mach-E as patrol vehicles.

Fremont Police and the Spokane Police Department both use the Model Y as a patrol vehicle, and the Boulder police department also uses an electric SUV.

The use of electric vehicles as patrol vehicles is seen as bringing advantages in terms of fuel economy and maintenance.

Last week the Dallas County Commissioner approved the purchase of three Tesla Model 3 Performances to be used by local police in law enforcement efforts.

They wanted to use it as a patrol vehicle, but the Dallas Police didn’t have time to validate the Tesla Model 3 based on their needs.

Due to the possibility of an excessively long backlog, they decided to purchase the vehicle immediately and place it in their spare unit
