Tesla has secured a dual safety distinction after its Model 3 and Model Y were both named Best in Class for 2025 by Euro NCAP and the ANCAP.
Under the latest assessments, the Model 3 was recognised as the safest Medium Car, while the Model Y was awarded safest Medium SUV. ANCAP said the Model Y also achieved the highest overall weighted safety score of any vehicle tested in 2025, across all categories and segments.

Euro NCAP said the Model Y delivered one of the strongest safety performances on record, scoring 91% for adult occupant protection, 95% for child occupant protection, 86% for vulnerable road users and 92% for safety assist systems. The results placed the vehicle at the top of the medium SUV category for the year.
The Model 3 recorded similarly strong results, with scores of 90% for adult occupant protection, 95% for child safety, 89% for vulnerable road users and 88% for safety assist. Euro NCAP said those figures put it ahead of all other medium-sized cars assessed in 2025.

Both Euro NCAP and ANCAP base their Best in Class awards on extensive testing that includes crash performance, pedestrian impact assessments, emergency braking, lane-keeping capability and driver monitoring effectiveness. The organisations said modern safety rankings increasingly depend on crash avoidance and active driver assistance, rather than structural strength alone.

ANCAP said the Model Y’s top overall score reflected consistent performance across all four evaluation pillars — adult occupants, child occupants, vulnerable road users and active safety — allowing it to outperform vehicles from larger and more premium segments when results were weighted into a single ranking.
