Tesla has installed its first batch of V4 Superchargers in China, marking the introduction of its latest high-power charging technology to the country’s electric vehicle (EV) market.
The new chargers are operational at seven Supercharger stations located in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Gansu, and Chongqing, according to a company announcement posted on Weibo. Tesla noted that additional V4 chargers will be rolled out in more regions over time.
Equipped with updated V4 cabinets, the new Superchargers support a maximum charging power of 500 kW. This rollout brings China into the megawatt-level charging era, in line with broader industry efforts to reduce charging times for EVs.
The chargers are available to both Tesla vehicles and compatible electric models from other manufacturers, expanding access beyond the company’s own fleet.
Tesla currently operates over 2,100 Supercharging stations with more than 11,600 Supercharger stalls across mainland China, based on figures released on June 28. Globally, the company’s Supercharger network has grown to over 70,000 stalls.
The V4 Supercharger was first introduced in the United States in October 2023. Its deployment in China reflects Tesla’s continued investment in charging infrastructure across major EV markets.
