Tesla kicks off 2023 in China with $1,450 incentive by Feb 28

Beginning in 2023, Tesla is offering discounts of up to RMB 10,000 ($1,450) in China. The RMB 6,000 discount will apply to Model 3 and Model Y orders with shipments completed between January 1 and February 28, the company announced Sunday on Weibo.

If consumers purchase auto insurance from a Tesla partner insurance agent, they will receive an additional RMB 4,000 discount, according to Tesla.

This purchase incentive applies to all new vehicles, including Tesla web orders, shows, test cars, and vehicles already in production.

Additionally, the company is also offering consumer car swaps with Tesla by offering a 90-day free trial of its Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) software.

EAP offers a variety of features including free Basic Autopilot (BAP), including auto-assisted navigation driving, auto-assisted lane changes, auto-parking, and smart dialing.

This purchase incentive from Tesla is a continuation of the previous measure, although it has expanded in scope.

Tesla appears to be facing demand problems in China due to the country’s slowing economic growth and strong competition from local electric vehicle companies.

Tesla sold 100,291 vehicles made in China in November, including 62,493 vehicles delivered in China and 37,798 vehicles exported, data released last month by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed.
