Tesla is coming to Thailand market with EVs, batteries, and solar

Tesla officially expands its expansion into the Thailand market. Tesla Company (Thailand) Ltd has been registered as a new company in Thailand. Tesla had been trying hard to enter the Indian market for years, but plans were put on hold earlier this month.

Quoted from the Department of Business Development page, Ministry of Commerce Thailand. Tesla has been officially registered as a company since Wednesday (25/5/2022).

Penetration into the Thailand market to sell electric vehicles.. The manufacturer from the United States will also install an energy storage system (ESS) sector system or energy storage system.

The appendix does not state that Tesla will produce or assemble electric cars.

Although Tesla has not officially entered the country, there are already quite a number of Tesla electric vehicles in Thailand.

The electric vehicle has been personally imported by the owner and that is a factor Tesla takes into account when considering entering a new market.

Even the Thai police purchased a fleet of Tesla Model 3 vehicles to be used as police patrol cars in 2020.

Thailand car market l recorded sales of more than 750,000 units last year and is expected to increase to 800,000 to 900,000 units this year. However, most of those vehicles are not in the same price range as Tesla vehicles.

Meanwhile, Thailand will be the first Southeast Asian country where Tesla will officially sell its vehicles. Interestingly, Tesla has also registered in Thailand to sell its energy storage systems and batteries.

Previously, the Tesla CEO met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo for an electric vehicle battery factory in Indonesia. So far, Indonesia is known as the largest nickel producer in the world, which is one of the main components in the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries
