Tesla appears poised to introduce the refreshed Model Y to the North American market as significant price reductions on existing Model Y inventory units have surfaced across the U.S. and Canada.
The move follows Tesla’s recent rollout of the redesigned Model Y in Asia-Pacific and European markets, fueling speculation about its imminent debut in Tesla’s home market.
This week, Tesla slashed prices on legacy Model Y units, with discounts reaching up to $4,120 on select trims, according to the company’s website. Long Range AWD configurations have seen reductions ranging from $960 to $2,500, while upgraded Performance trims feature the steepest discounts, bringing prices as low as $47,370 before federal and local tax credits. In some cases, incentives have brought the cost of Long Range AWD units down to $39,990, with Rear-Wheel Drive options dipping to $37,490.

The substantial price cuts are seen as a common strategy by Tesla to clear inventory ahead of refreshed product launches. Similar trends were observed prior to the North American debut of Tesla’s refreshed Model 3, which first launched in overseas markets.
The refreshed Model Y is expected to include updates such as redesigned bumpers with integrated lightbars, a front-facing camera for enhanced semi-automated features, and aesthetic enhancements.
Although Tesla has not officially confirmed a North American launch date for the updated Model Y, sightings of camouflaged prototypes have been reported since mid-2024, with activity intensifying in recent weeks.
The company’s recent actions suggest that the unveiling could happen as soon as this month, as Tesla looks to maintain its competitive edge in the electric SUV segment.
