Tesla’s head of the Cybertruck program, Siddhant Awasthi, announced on Sunday that he is leaving the U.S. electric vehicle maker after more than eight years, according to his LinkedIn post.

Awasthi began his career at Tesla as an intern and most recently oversaw the Cybertruck program from its engineering development through large-scale production, managing product strategy, quality improvements, and supply chain operations. In addition, he took over leadership of Tesla’s Model 3 program in July 2025.

“Eight years ago, when I started as an intern, I never dreamed I’d one day have the opportunity to lead the Cybertruck program and bring it to reality,” Awasthi wrote.

Tesla reported record vehicle deliveries in the third quarter of 2025, largely driven by U.S. buyers attempting to claim the $7,500 federal EV tax credit before it expired at the end of September. Analysts, however, have forecast a decline in fourth-quarter deliveries as the incentive is no longer available.

The Cybertruck has faced sales challenges since its introduction in November 2023, with Tesla offering significant discounts on inventory units in recent months. A U.S. recall filing in March indicated that 46,096 Cybertrucks had been produced between the launch and early 2025.
