Subaru is offering its 2025 Solterra electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) for lease at a rate roughly 40 percent lower than the Tesla Model Y, the company said. The promotion is available until the end of September for well-qualified buyers who take delivery from existing retail stock.
Under the deal, the Solterra Premium trim can be leased for $299 per month over 36 months, with no security deposit or down payment required.
By comparison, a Tesla Model Y adjusted for zero down payment leases at $492 per month for the same term. Lessees of the Solterra will have the option to purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease for $17,962.
The 2025 Solterra features all-wheel drive with two electric motors generating 215 horsepower. Its 72.8 kWh battery provides an estimated range of up to 227 miles and can charge to 80 percent in approximately 35 minutes using DC fast charging.
Inside, the Solterra is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen for infotainment and vehicle settings, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and 23.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats.
The promotion is intended to make the electric SUV more accessible to consumers amid growing competition in the EV market.
