Subaru’s new E-Outback and Uncharted battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) have both received the maximum five-star rating in the 2026 Euro NCAP safety assessment, achieving strong results across all major crash-test categories.
According to Subaru UK and Ireland, both models exceeded the minimum requirements in adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, vulnerable road user protection and safety assistance systems.
Strong Occupant Protection Scores
The Subaru E-Outback achieved an adult occupant protection score of 89%, while the Uncharted scored 88%.
Both vehicles received an identical score of 85% for child occupant protection.

The results place the two electric models among the latest vehicles to secure the highest safety recognition from the European crash-testing organisation.
Adult Occupant Safety Performance
Euro NCAP testing found that the passenger compartment remained stable during frontal offset crash tests for both vehicles.
Dummy measurements indicated good protection for the knees and femurs of both front occupants, regardless of occupant size or seating position.
In side-impact barrier testing, both vehicles achieved maximum points after providing protection for all critical body areas.
The organisation also reported good airbag performance and effective protection against whiplash injuries in rear-end collision scenarios.
Child Occupant Protection
Both vehicles delivered strong protection for six-year-old and ten-year-old child dummies during crash testing.
The E-Outback received maximum marks for child protection performance based on crash testing involving six-year-old and ten-year-old occupants.
Meanwhile, the Uncharted achieved full marks in child seat installation assessments.
In both models, the front passenger airbag can be deactivated to allow the safe installation of rear-facing child seats.
Advanced Safety Systems
The E-Outback features an autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system designed to respond to other vehicles and includes a driver monitoring system capable of detecting fatigue and inattention.
The vehicle is also equipped with lane support technology that can provide steering assistance if the vehicle begins to drift from its lane.
The Uncharted offers an expanded AEB system that can detect and respond not only to vehicles but also to vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
