Spy images of Onvo’s upcoming L80 model have surfaced online in China, offering an early glimpse of the electric vehicle (EV) maker’s third model as it gears up for a fourth-quarter debut.
The heavily camouflaged SUV appears slightly smaller than the flagship L90, which was officially unveiled at the Shanghai auto show in April and is slated for release in the third quarter. According to Chinese auto publication Auto Home, the L80 will be a large five-seat SUV developed for family use and built on Nio’s advanced NT 3.0 platform.
Design cues for the L80 suggest a close resemblance to the L90, with both vehicles expected to share a similar lighting signature at the front and rear. Powertrain options are likely to include both single-motor and dual-motor variants, with the former potentially delivering up to 340 kW and the latter matching the L90’s 440 kW peak output.

Earlier speculation about the L80 emerged in late February, when a batch of spy photos led to confusion about whether the vehicle in question was the L80 or L90. Onvo later confirmed those images depicted the L90, which debuted in April boasting features such as a spacious frunk and multiple storage compartments.
Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio, launched its first model, the L60, in September 2024, targeting the mass-market segment with a base price of RMB 206,900 ($28,790). Deliveries began later that same month. The brand is expected to play a critical role in Nio’s multi-brand strategy, which also includes Firefly.
Nio founder and CEO William Li recently reaffirmed that the L80 will launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. During the company’s June earnings call, Li stated that the combined monthly sales target for Onvo’s three models — L60, L80, and L90 — is 25,000 units by the fourth quarter.
In May, Nio delivered 23,231 vehicles in total, including 13,270 units from its main brand, 6,281 from Onvo, and 3,680 from its budget-oriented Firefly line.
