Munro Vehicles, Scotland’s exclusive volume production car company and manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, recently unveiled its second model, the Mk_1 Pick-Up. This remarkable vehicle boasts an impressive range of over 190 miles and a rapid 15-80% battery recharge time of just 36 minutes, enabling it to conquer off-road terrains for up to 16 hours on a single charge.
The introduction of the MK_1 Pick-Up presents an exciting opportunity for businesses in demanding sectors like mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense to align with decarbonization goals.
With its spacious rear bed capable of accommodating a substantial 1,050kg Euro Pallet payload and an impressive 3,500kg maximum braked towing capacity in the Performance model, the Munro MK_1 Pick-Up is designed to handle any demanding task.
The launch of the Munro MK_1 Pick-Up follows the successful release of the all-electric 4×4 Munro MK_1 Truck in 2022, solidifying Munro Vehicles’ commitment to innovation and sustainable transportation.
What sets the Munro apart is not only its remarkable performance but also its place in history as the first light vehicle to enter production in Scotland in more than four decades. Designed and built in Britain, it represents a significant milestone in Scotland’s automotive industry.
In 2023, Munro Vehicles plans to manufacture 50 vehicles, with a transition to a purpose-built facility near Glasgow in 2024. This expansion demonstrates the company’s dedication to meeting the growing demand for their groundbreaking vehicles.
Russell Peterson, the CEO and Co-Founder of Munro, explains the vision behind the brand: “We established Munro to address the substantial gap in the market for an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive, utilitarian workhorse. Our vehicles embody a design philosophy free from constraints, resulting in rugged construction that guarantees exceptional off-road capabilities for decades to come.”
Peterson continues, expressing his enthusiasm for the market’s response: “The overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received from the media and customers who have test-driven the MK_1 Truck has been unprecedented. The excitement surrounding the new MK_1 Pick-Up is equally remarkable. Coupled with over 200 pre-orders across both the truck and Pick-Up models, we are confident that Munro’s vehicles perfectly align with the needs and desires of the market. We are ready to play a significant role in assisting those operating in challenging environments, such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense, in meeting the imminent decarbonization targets.”
Russell Peterson and Ross Anderson established Munro Vehicles in 2019 with the goal of manufacturing the MunroĀ® MK_1, an all-electric 4×4, for both commercial and private customers. Since then, the company has been at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution, providing cutting-edge solutions for sustainable transportation.
