Rosenbauer introduces its new electric fire vehicle lineup

Austrian firefighter supplier Rosenbauer presents a complete range of electric emergency vehicles at the Interschutz trade show in Hannover, Germany.

The series of fire fighting fleets (Damkar) include the Volvo-based AT Electric fire engine, the Rosenbauer Panther 6×6 Electric airport special fire and the Rosenbauer L32A-XS turntable ladder model.

This is Rosenbauer’s mission to participate in the trend of electrified vehicles not only for public transportation but also for emergency response vehicles such as fire engines (Damkar).

Rosenbauer assumes that the electric transformation in the industry will gain considerable momentum, especially as rechargeable batteries and their storage capacities continue to be further developed and the range and run time of electric vehicles is markedly increased.

“Therefore, by 2030, half of all vehicles that Rosenbauer sends to the fire department must be electrified,” he explained on his official website, Saturday (6/25/2022).

AT Electric

The first, the Rosenbauer AT Electric Firefighter model is a 27 tonne fire truck based on the Volvo FE Electric electric truck.

The truck relies on a smaller battery version with 2 battery packs of 66 kWh capacity that can be charged up to 150 kW with DC charging and 22 kW with AC charge.

The electric fleet which is capable of reaching up to 100 km distance also has the option of a range extender battery pack installed to ensure operational capability on longer trips or for longer pumping operations.

Panther 6×6 Electric

Furthermore, Rosenbauer also introduced the Panther 6×6 Electric which is a future firefighting concept designed as an electric emergency vehicle that operates specifically in the airport area.

About 90 percent of these truck operations can be handled purely with electric power and can adapt to airport needs. The Panther 6×6 Electric is claimed to be able to accelerate up to 80 kph faster than the conventional 6×6 model.

This Panther 6×6 Electric battery has been designed in such a way that multiple operational trips or movements can be completed with a single battery charge, which is very advantageous in training operations.

Similar to the AT Electric model, the Panther 6×6 Electric also gets an optional range extender battery pack to ensure long run and pumping operations. The battery, whose size has not been disclosed by Rosenbauer, can be charged up to 300 kW so that the vehicle is ready for its mission with electrified energy.

L32A-XS

The Rosenbauer L32A-XS is a turntable ladder model fleet which is also based on the same Volvo FE Electric electric truck model as the AT Electric.

The truck is fitted with 225 kW drive and a 100 kW electric motor and 70 kW continuous power. The battery itself has a capacity of 200 kWh which can be charged with 150 kW DC charging and 22 kW AC charging.

According to Rosenbauer, the features of the L32A-XS as a ladder turntable model are exactly the same as the conventional version, and the operating concept is exactly the same. The rescue cage model HR-500 MF has a payload of up to 500 kg or approximately 5 people and it is possible to transport people in wheelchairs in a safe manner.
