Xpeng is planning to expand its affordable Mona vehicle lineup with two new models, according to a report by Chinese media outlet 21jingji, as the electric vehicle maker seeks to strengthen its presence in China’s mass-market segment.
Citing multiple people familiar with the matter, the report said Xpeng is developing a compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), codenamed D11, and a station wagon, codenamed D11T, with the “T” representing “Travel.”
If launched, the two vehicles would expand the Mona lineup to at least five models alongside the existing M03 sedan, the L03, which is scheduled to officially launch on July 16, and the planned L05 SUV.
Compact SUV Reportedly Targeted at Entry-Level Market
According to the report, the D11 will measure about 4.4 meters in length and is expected to be priced at approximately 100,000 yuan (about $14,700).
The report said pricing across the D11, M03 and L03 is expected to increase progressively, although the differences between the models are likely to be relatively small.
It also noted that the D11 would be only about 0.2 meters shorter than the L03, potentially requiring Xpeng to differentiate the two SUVs through design, features or market positioning.
The planned L05, meanwhile, is expected to be a 4.8-meter, five-seat SUV positioned as the highest-priced model in the Mona range, targeting younger families.
Station Wagon Could Enter Growing Niche
The report said the D11T would represent Xpeng’s first station wagon, or shooting brake, combining sedan-like driving characteristics with increased cargo space.
According to data cited from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), approximately 176,000 shooting brake vehicles were sold in China during 2025, representing less than 1% of total passenger vehicle sales.
The report said sales in the segment could increase to around 250,000 units in 2026, reflecting annual growth of about 40%, although the category would still account for less than 3% of the overall passenger vehicle market.
People familiar with the matter told 21jingji that the D11T would likely compete with the BYD Seal 06 DM wagon and the Lynk & Co 07 GT, which currently have starting prices of 109,800 yuan and 165,800 yuan, respectively.
According to the report, Xpeng could establish a competitive position in the segment if it prices the D11T below 200,000 yuan while offering competitive styling, interior space and intelligent driving features.
