Renault officially introduces its line of electric commercial vehicles by launching a new generation of electric compact vans, the Renault Kangoo Rapid E-Tech.
During the launch, the French automotive manufacturer also upgraded the Master E-Tech electric van, which was introduced last year with the addition of a variant with a gross weight of 3.5 tons.
This Renault Kangoo Rapid E-Tech electric van has an electric motor that is claimed to be capable of producing 120 hp of power with a peak torque of 245 Nm. The electric motor is also equipped with a battery with a capacity of 45 kWh which allows it to cover a range of up to 300 km in the WLTP cycle.
In the base version, the Renault Kangoo Rapid E-Tech is equipped with an onboard AC charger with a power of 11 kW. With a public charging station (AC), this electric van can charge the battery from 15 to 80 percent in 2 hours 40 minutes. Meanwhile, with fast charging (DC) the van battery can be charged in 30 minutes.
The Renault Kangoo Rapid E-Tech will be available in two length variants, including the standard version with a cargo capacity of up to 3.9 cubic meters and a payload of 600 kilograms and the long version has a cargo capacity of up to 4.9 cubic meters and a payload of up to 800 kilograms.
On the other hand, the Master E-Tech which is Renault’s first electric van model which is also bigger than the Kangoo Rapid E-Tech model now has a weight variant of 3.8 tons which initially only had a weight variant of 3.1 and 3.5 tons.
This electric van model is equipped with a 3.7 kW AC installed charger as standard with the addition of another new feature in the form of a battery capacity of 52 kWh which was previously only 33 kWh. With the addition of the battery capacity, it allows the Master E-Tech to travel a further 200 km.
The Renault Master E-Tech has a new 52 kWh battery capacity and is equipped with an energy-efficient electric motor that can produce 76 hp and is claimed to be ideal for driving on urban roads with high flexibility.
Going forward, Renault will again provide an update to the Master E-Tech electric van with a 22 kW DC charger that can charge up quickly in 45 minutes and can reach up to 50 km further.
The new generation of Renault Kangoo Rapid E-Tech will be produced at the Renault factory in Maubeuge, France which has been producing Kangoo models for customers worldwide since 2011. Meanwhile, the Renault Master E-Tech will be produced at the Sovab factory, Batilly, France which has produced Renault models. Master since 1980 and at the Curitiba factory, Brazil since 2009.
