RAW Charging has opened a new ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging hub on Palmerston Road in central Aberdeen, Scotland, adding 14 charging bays to the city’s public charging infrastructure.
The facility began operations on October 5 and comprises ten 150 kW charging bays and four units capable of delivering up to 300 kW. Two of the bays are designated as priority spaces.
Developed in partnership with infrastructure company Hubber, the site is designed to serve both Aberdeen residents and motorists travelling through the city. Drivers can pay using contactless bank cards or compatible charging applications, while 24-hour customer support is also available.
RAW describes the installation as Aberdeen’s largest ultra-rapid charging hub to date. The company expects the facility to provide an alternative to slower public charging options, particularly for drivers without access to private off-street parking.
Central Location Targets Faster Public Charging
The Palmerston Road hub provides charging capacity in a central urban location, giving EV drivers access to higher-powered equipment without having to rely on slower public charging facilities.
Jason Simpson, CEO of RAW Charging, said:
“We’re delighted to bring a major Rapid Hub to Aberdeen, giving drivers across the city access to a genuinely fast option right in the city centre. Fourteen ultra‑rapid bays means drivers can add serious range rather than planning their day around charging. This launch is another important step in our partnership with Hubber, providing fast, reliable and well‑located facilities.”
The mix of 150 kW and 300 kW equipment gives the site different power options, although the charging rate achieved by individual vehicles will depend on their technical capabilities and charging conditions.
RAW Charging Expands UK Network
The Aberdeen installation forms part of RAW Charging’s wider expansion across the UK. The company says its network now covers more than 500 sites.
Another recent development is a 20-bay ultra-rapid charging hub at Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light. That facility includes 16 charging units rated at 150 kW and four capable of delivering 300 kW.
RAW Charging to Build Major EV Hub at Bluewater in UK Retail Rollout
Hubber, which was founded in 2024 by former members of Tesla’s UK Supercharger team, focuses on developing high-powered charging hubs in urban locations. Its business model includes securing suitable sites and arranging the grid connections needed to support high-capacity charging infrastructure.
The Aberdeen project highlights the continued development of high-powered public charging facilities in UK cities, where access to convenient charging remains important for drivers without private parking.
