Porsche is in the process of developing a full-sized electric luxury SUV, codenamed K1, that can accommodate up to seven passengers. The K1 will be positioned above the Macan and Cayenne and is expected to cost around $200,000 when it becomes available for sale in 2027.

The SUV will be built on Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric chassis and will be equipped with a 920V electric system, which is projected to provide a range of 435 miles. Despite its spacious interior and 7-seat capacity, Porsche promises that the K1 will maintain the brand’s hallmark sports performance.

The K1 will feature all-wheel drive and will be Porsche’s flagship SUV model, incorporating the latest advancements in battery technology. This includes rapid charging speeds and reduced battery degradation. The battery size is expected to be over 100 kWh, which should deliver Model X-like performance, including over 1000 horsepower and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 2.5 seconds.

While the K1 is still four years away from its official launch, Porsche has a number of other EVs in the pipeline. A refreshed version of the Taycan will be revealed later this year, followed by the highly-anticipated Macan EV, which will go on sale in 2024.

An electric Boxster/Cayman and Panamera are also slated for release around 2025. The Cayenne, Porsche’s mid-sized SUV, is expected to make the transition to electric by the middle of the decade, although details are currently scarce.
