Polestar is set to expand its retail presence by incorporating Volvo’s dealership network, moving beyond its online sales model. The transition, expected to be completed by March, aims to support the company’s goal of achieving annual growth of 30% to 35% between 2024 and 2027, CEO Michael Lohscheller said at the Automobilwoche event in Munich.
“Our goal of growing by 30 to 35 per cent annually from 2024 to 2027 cannot be achieved with online sales alone,” Lohscheller stated. While Polestar has operated independent ‘Spaces’ and showcased its vehicles at some Volvo dealerships, purchases were previously handled online. The new approach will authorize Volvo dealers to sell Polestar vehicles directly.

Polestar delivered 44,851 vehicles globally last year, down from nearly 53,000 in 2023. The decline was attributed to limited dealership availability and the timing of new model releases, with the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 launching in 2024.
In Germany, Polestar’s retail footprint will expand from nine to 17 locations, particularly at Volvo dealerships with multiple sites. The company also plans to increase its sales areas from 70 to 130 in Europe and from 36 to 57 in North America.
