Electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar said it will premiere the Polestar 3 electric SUV on October 12, 2022. However, there are already clear indications of the main technical specifications of the electric SUV.
In June, the Swedish manufacturer leaked images of its electric SUV for the first time. In July, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said that the Polestar 3 will be priced between 75,000 and 110,000 euros with 24,000 units initially set to be sold in 2023. Meanwhile, 67,000 units will be sold in 2024 and 77,000 in 2025.
Meanwhile, the Autocar portal has reported on the technical specifications of the Polestar 3 referring to car data provider CAP HPi: an electric SUV with two motors is to produce 365 kW and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds. A battery with a capacity of 107 kWh enables a WLTP range of 380 miles (611 kilometers) in the long-range variant.
The optional performance package of the Polestar 3 allows a maximum output of 380 kW and 910 Nm, according to official information so far. According to unofficial information, the performance variant will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds and come with a range of 348 miles – about 560 kilometers. The top speed for both model variants is said to be 130 mph or 209 km/h.
Autocar also provides more precise pricing information – the base price in the UK is £78,900 for the twin engine version and £85,500 for the version with the performance package. It’s also very likely that a cheaper single-engine version of the Polestar 3 will also be offered later.
The Polestar 3 is expected to compete with the Porsche Cayenne, while the Polestar 4 and Polestar 5 models will each be tough competitors to the next-generation electric Macan and Taycan in the same segment.
Polestar 3 will be equipped with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) autonomous driving feature
