Peugeot has revived its iconic GTi badge with the debut of the all-electric E-208 GTi, marking a bold entry into the performance EV segment for small hatchbacks. The model features upgraded power, enhanced handling, and distinct design cues that draw on the brand’s legacy while embracing a zero-emission future.
The E-208 GTi swaps the standard E-208’s 115 kW electric motor for a significantly more powerful 206 kW M4+ unit, delivering 280 hp and 345 Nm of torque. According to Peugeot, the new drivetrain enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. The car also includes a limited-slip differential for improved traction and agility in corners.

Peugeot’s chassis modifications include a 30 mm lower ride height, widened front and rear axles, and performance suspension paired with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The vehicle retains the 54 kWh battery used in the standard model, but with software and cooling updates to ensure performance under demanding driving conditions. Despite the enhancements, the DC fast-charging rate remains capped at 100 kW.
“We are thrilled to introduce the new PEUGEOT E-208 GTi, a ground-breaking next chapter in an iconic GTi story,” said CEO Alain Favey. “This model represents a fusion of our rich heritage with cutting-edge technology, offering unparalleled performance and driving sensations, because at Peugeot we are serious about driving pleasure.”

The E-208 GTi pays visual homage to the legendary 205 GTi, with a bold red paint scheme, black 18-inch rims, widened fenders, and subtle aerodynamic additions. Inside, red accents, seat belts, and trim details distinguish the GTi from standard models. As the flagship variant, it includes nearly all available E-208 features, including a V2L adapter for powering external devices from the main battery.
While pricing has not yet been disclosed, the E-208 GTi is expected to position Peugeot as a serious contender in the emerging “hot hatch” EV niche. Stellantis’ strategy has previously prioritized platform sharing and standardization, making the E-208 GTi a notable departure into enthusiast-oriented design.
